Strong set-up game
I recently worked on a huge campaign for a client of mine on an identity re-brand. I had to produce numerous slide decks in the same style but with different elements in each PPT file. Going forward, the end client would use my decks as their starting point when creating new Powerpoint documents.
As we were producing a huge amount of work, the set-up of the initial document was critical. If the first deck wasn’t right, imagine the work to re-correct all those slides where one colour is wrong or the font in the pie chart is different from all the others when we’re a week into building the project.
Like the construction of a building, creating good, strong foundations make for a solid environment thereafter.
Therefore it’s worth taking time to perfect fonts, colours, charts and masters and other brand elements within that first deck, working in collaboration with any Creative departments and getting all stakeholders to agree that everything is correct before going too far.
Once OK, export a theme which will contain all the important master items like colours, fonts, chart/table types and their colours. Then, coupled with an agreed master file, you’re ready to build the rest of your Powerpoint files.
